Superman #20

Superman #20 is the first issue published after Superman Reborn where we had the merger of Pre-Crisis and N52 Superman. And the two Loiss. The Rebirth initiative has reinvigorated Superman.

This issue has Batman show up and he is still concerned with Jon. The son of Superman. Batman is lurking in the barn when Superman finds him. Jon is evesdropping and the party is discovered by Lois.

Soon we have Batman reveal that Jon should be more powerful than Superman right now because he is a human Kryptonian hybrid.

This makes no sense at all. The reason Superman has powers is that he is Kryptonian. His physical traits are enhanced from less gravity and a yellow son. Jon should be less powerful. He only has half of Kryptonian

Also his body should be used to earth because he was born here. Superman was born on Krypton. He only grew on Earth. So what scientific reason would there be for this. There is none.

And it reeks of DC trying too hard to make Jon special. He doesn't need to be more powerful than his father.

And what ten year old is?

A part of rebirth that I think was a mistake is Jon. I guess I'm in the minority but I do not want to read about the son of Superman. And this entire volume of Superman has been way too Jon centered.

The issue then focuses on Batman trying to figure out why Jon is not exibiting his true power level. There is something mysterious about the town that Superman has set up shop in.

And of course Batman will be the one to uncover it.
